Travel by Train to the Northern Costa Brava to Spain
Travelling by train allows great views of the French countryside (and Ashford!), and the return trip can be organised for less than £160 per adult. The journey can be completed within twelve hours, depending on connection times.
Using TGV (or Rail Europe) journeys can be booked from England to Perpignan or Barcelona, although the new TGV service from Perpignan to Figueres is due to start in 2007. Figueres is a short bus ride from Roses.
It will be necessary to book Car Hire from either of these.
Perpignan is around 1 hour's drive (but some car hire companies will not allow cross-border travel) and Barcelona is a little under 2 hours.
