Many people who have not
visited the Costa Brava before assume the entire coast is a continuous
mass of high-rise hotels, loud pubs, discos and second-rate unauthentic
flamenco shows. Lloret de Mar seems to possess many of these, and it is
a tour operator's paradise where they can offer cheap package holidays.

However, this urbanisation was once a beautiful town and much
evidence of this still exists. After a couple of visits, one can
feel very comfortable here. The town has various very desirable
elements, such as the wide promenade flanked by mature palm trees,
the Santa Roma church with it's Gothic altar and entrance door, the
bronze statue of Dona Marinera on the crag of El Rampent it's Blue
Flag beaches and the Sant Joan castle in nearby Fenals.
Most holiday-makers come to Lloret de Mar for the discos, bars,
pubs and all the other associated entertainment. They are not
disappointed with the endless choice available. To this can be added
bowling alleys, flamenco shows, water park, casino and bull ring.
But time should also be made for discovering the 8km of beaches and
coves along this part of the beautiful coastline.

Every April, The
Rally Catalunya Costa Brava starts and ends at the southern end of the
promenade. A plaque and the handprints of all past winners can be found
here.
The Lloret de Mar Festa Major is held from 24th to 26th July and
provides Sardana dancing, live music and sports events.
Most Hotel accommodation is booked through package holidays with the
major Tour Operators, but it is possible to make saving by organising
independent travel and negotiating accommodation direct or through other
independent booking companies, where more competitive rates can be
acheived (see the GoogleAds on this page).
