Premià de Mar is situated on the Maresme coast in Catalonia, 28 miles (40km) north east of Barcelona.The town has a population of 28,000, 85% of whom understand Catalan, (In Catalan schools, the teaching language is Catalan and equal time is spent teaching Spanish and English as second languages).Being both a tourist destination and a dormitory town for Barcelona, Premià de Mar has a good mix of traditional Catalan and tourist restaurants & bars (use the Catalan ones for both value and wonderful food!).. There are good transport links to Barcelona by road, particularly using the C32 autopista (toll road) and by train. Accommodation: The 22-room Vila de Premia is the main hotel in the town and offers bar, free breakfast and free wifi. It is ideally situated on Cami de Ral, the seafront road.
