Feliu de Guíxols is an attractive town on the beach itself with a
selection of good quality family run hotels and private apartments. The
seafront has a very pleasant promenade lined with pavement cafes leading
to the harbour at the Northern end. It is situated at the southern end
of the Baix Empordà in the province of Girona. With a pleasant,
temperate climate, it is perfect holiday location throughout the year. This is a popular tourist resort for locals and it has now joined up northwards to the equally popular resort of S'Agaró, built round the Sant Pol Beach. There are wonderful coastal walks along the craggy coast, which is broken up by small bays and beaches of fine sand, with the area surrounded by hills with holm oak and pine. Sant Feliu de Guíxols is now a major tourist centre, but retaining its deep-rooted traditions, and the town has intense cultural and commercial activity all the year round. of the wealth generated by the nineteenth century cork industry, Sant
Feliu has some wonderful buildings. As it's prosperity increased, the
town grew around the Benedictine monastery whose ruins still stand, and
which now houses the town museum. An interesting group of Romanesque
buildings remain, formed by two towers and the Porta Ferrada (10th
Century). One of the most distinctive constructions of the town, it is a
protected historico-artistic monument. The history museum and the squat
round tower and tenth century arched gateway La Porta Ferrada are back
