aircraft, this is your opportunity! The Centre de Paracaigudisme Costa
Brava in Empuriabrava has an airstrip virtually dedicated to parachuting
and skydiving, and has hosted numerous championships over the years.
Beginners courses and tandem flights are available with video or still
photos available at extra cost, and the jumps take place at 12,500 feet.Prices (2002) are £88 for tandem flights and £12 for individual jumps. Blocks of jumps can be bought at £120 for 10 and £282 for 25. Equipment hire and parachute packing costs £12.
Jumpers must be physically fit and there is a lengthy list of ailments, which would prohibit jumping. Except for tandem jumps, it is necessary to possess third party skydiving insurance, a log book and a reserve packing card. The Centre can provide insurance: £25 for 3 months and £54 for 1 year, and membership to the Spanish Federation.
The airstrip has a pleasant bar with hot snacks available, and is an excellent vantage point for watching the parachutists landing. The Bar is open to non-participants. Any reservations about the sport will be dispelled when watching people hesitantly await their turn to board an aircraft then seeing their reaction upon landing - pure elation & gratitude for one of the most memorable moments of their life!
Fridays has dedicated tandem jumps for disabled. Even wheelchair users are catered for.
