The Bay of Roses is an excellent venue for windsurfers, and many championships are held here.
In Roses itself, there are two windsurfing sites where boards can be hired. During the summer months the afternoon on-shore thermal breezes create great conditions, and the Tramantana winds can provide 60 knot winds. These occur mainly in the autumn, winter and spring. The sea at Roses is generally flat, and together with the gently sloping sands this makes it an ideal location for experts, beginners and children alike.
Further around the bay, good wave sailing can be experienced at San Pere Pescador (14 miles from Canyelles Petites and Pals. In fact, most of the northern side of the Bay is ideal for this.
Further north, another venue can be found at the fishing port of Port de la Selva, to the north of Canyelles Petites
